With complete documents, your return is faster and error-free. This is the list we use at the office for the 2027 season; bring what applies to your appointment.

Your personal return

  • Last year's return and a photo ID
  • Social Security number or ITIN for you and your dependents (in person or in the portal, never by chat)
  • W-2s from every job and 1099s you received (NEC, MISC, INT, DIV, K, R)
  • Form 1098 mortgage, property taxes and 1098-T for tuition
  • Childcare costs and donations
  • Form 1095-A if you have Marketplace insurance

Your company

  • Profit and loss and balance sheet, or QuickBooks access
  • December bank and card statements
  • Equipment or vehicle purchases this year
  • Business mileage
  • The company's prior-year return

Payroll and contractors

  • A W-9 from every contractor and the total paid in 2026 (the 1099-NEC applies from $2,000)
  • Payroll reports for the year

If you live abroad or have no Social Security number

  • A valid passport for the ITIN application
  • Documents for your U.S. company and from the country where you live

This list is general. SonIA sends you yours, based on your case, before the appointment.
